Need a Thumbnail Image of your Web Page Right Now?
Automatic web page thumbnail generation is a benefit of several Web 2.0 social bookmarking and wiki directory sites. For many, there is no need to download and purchase thumbnail software.
Wheaton, IL (PRWEB) June 26, 2006 -- Social bookmarking and Web 2.0 directory sites have many features you can use for own benefit. For example, the simple act of adding a bookmark or URL to some sites causes a thumbnail image to be generated. As long as it is within the site's Terms of Use, you may download and copy the thumbnail.
TagTooga.com is one such site. It is a wiki that allows anyone to add a URL to a directory listing. The TagTooga servers will automatically generate a thumbnail image of the web page upon submission. Clicking on a magnifying class (or binocular) icon allows you to view the thumbnails. If you check a few minutes after adding your page, you will notice your thumbnail is ready. TagTooga is one site that expressly provides permission to download and copy its thumbnails. There is even a "regenerate thumbnail" button allowing you to expressly re-render when your web page changes.
Shadows.com is another social bookmarking site with automatic thumbnail generation. However, Shadows.com does not explicitly give permission to use the thumbnails in its Terms of Use.
There are many commercial and shareware software packages that offer HTML thumbnail creation. Unless you need to automate the generation of large numbers of thumbnails, these packages are effectively rendered obsolete. Generating a thumbnail via a Web 2.0 site is free, there is nothing to install, and you can access it from any computer.
