Children’s Book Honors Local Cherry Festival

Author Suzanne Donohoe celebrates the town she loves and its famous festival in her gaily illustrated children’s book Cherries Can Be Fun

Traverse City, Michigan (PRWEB) June 25, 2006 -- Five years in the making, Cherries Can Be Fun is author and local resident Suzanne Donohoe’s detail-perfect children’s story about Traverse City, Michigan’s famous and jubilant Cherry Festival.

What could be more fun than a festival that celebrates cherries? Every year, Traverse City, favorably known as the “Cherry Capital of the World” does just that, offering eight exciting days of fabulous shows, wonderful parades, joyful activities, and of course, lots of succulent and delicious cherries! Local resident Suzanne Donohoe loves the festival so much she spent years creating this beautifully illustrated, perfectly accurate children’s book.

Cherries Can Be Fun follows young Bobby as he experiences the wonderful festival for the very first time. He catches a fish, rides the bumper cars and eats delicious elephants’ ear pastries. A visit to a real cherry farm, followed by Cherry Town Fun Night and live music on the street make Bobby’s eyes grow large with pleasure. And when the festival is over, Bobby has no other thing to say, but, “Can we come back next year?”

Each page is filled with bright illustrations, all taken from Donohoe’s own photographs of the event. Whether you are a Traverse City resident, or you are planning to visit the festival, or you just want to learn more about cherries, Cherries are Fun is a delicious treat for all ages.

Cherries are Fun is available for sale online at Amazon.com, Borders.com, BookSurge.com, and through additional wholesale and retail channels worldwide.
