New module allows authorized carriers to submit scheduling requests online. With drag-and-drop simplicity, the scheduler can then use SmartDock .NET software to make the appointment and electronically confirm it back to the carrier, all without a telephone.

BGI International, a leading provider of logistics and dock scheduling software, announces the release of Carrier Web-Scheduling for SmartDock .NET, the company’s flagship dock scheduling tool for manufacturers and distributors.

The web-scheduling module allows carriers to log-in to a secure portal hosted by BGI Web-Services, enter their load information and desired date of delivery, and submit that information directly to the SmartDock .NET user as a pending web request. Without phone disruptions or back-and-forth voice mail messages, dock scheduling users can view the request, make the appointment and confirm the time with the carrier… with click-of-the-mouse speed, efficiency and control.

“We’re seeing a process that used to take as much as five minutes before SmartDock, now being reduced to 10 seconds or less,” says BGI co-founder Tom Bauer. “For schedulers whose duties set the tempo for the entire warehouse, that savings is critically important. With Carrier Web-Scheduling, they now have even more control over their day.”

Carrier Web-Scheduling is the latest innovative enhancement for the SmartDock system, which has helped manufacturers and distributors manage inbound and outbound appointment flow since 1996. Earlier this year, BGI added the Web savvy integration capabilities of Microsoft’s .NET framework to the award-winning feature-set of SmartDock. Now, SmartDock .NET provides:

  • Carrier Web-Scheduling for setting appointments via the Internet
  • Supply Chain Visibility for everyone in the enterprise
  • Web-Based Deployment for access to data anywhere and in any place
  • Smart Client Platform for drag-and-drop functionality
  • Real-Time Dashboard to display critical operational metrics

“Customers call on BGI to provide them with real-time data so they have a better view of, and can better manage, their supply chain activity,” says BGI co-founder Richard Gramza. “SmartDock .NET with Carrier Web-Scheduling does exactly that, which positively impacts their bottom lines and maximizes their ROI."
