Defending its right to publish airline seat comfort reviews, interactive airline seating charts, consumer research, and Seat Comfort Scores™ for leading domestic and international airlines, http://www.LoveMySeat.com dismisses the validity of claim’s of copyright infringement by competitor SeatGuru.com, Inc..
On May 1, 2006, SeatGuru.com filed a civil action in United States Federal Court Las Vegas, Nevada (#2:06-cv-0500-JCM-GWF) demanding LoveMySeat.com refrain: (1) from using the copyrighted material registered by SeatGuru.com or any substantially and confusingly similar phrases, images or trade dress in connection with the offering of their services.
Steven Hall, Founder of the Insider’s Guide to Better Airline Travel located at http://www.LoveMySeat.com, remarked, “We do not copy content from Seatguru. The content and research on LoveMySeat.com is original and we have researched every seat review and rating using multiple sources including user submitted seat reviews which can be viewed on the site. Users to our airline travel guide will find detailed seating charts and detailed comments identifying seats with limited legroom, reduced recline and poor locations.”
http://www.LoveMySeat.com is a consumer travel web site focused on airline travel on all major airlines such as United Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, British Airways, Air Canada, Lufthansa Airlines and Northwest Airlines. The site provides original consumer information, articles, news and airline guides helping airline travelers choose the most comfortable seat before they book their airline tickets.
Steven Hall and LovemySeat.com are represented by F. Christopher Austin of Greenberg Trauig, LLP Las Vegas, Nevada.
LoveMySeat.com founder adds, “We have not infringed on the copyright of SeatGuru and we dispute the fact that their airline seating information and facts are deserving of a copyright. Airline travelers typically use more than one source to research travel and now they have another source of facts available identifying legroom, recline, laptop powerport, galley, lavatory and exit row locations that could impact their seat comfort.”
