Melanie Hall Joins HABBO as Director of Marketing for North America

Melanie Hall has joined Sulake Corporation’s major online community and gaming destination for teens, HABBO.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 28, 2006 -- Melanie Hall has joined Sulake Corporation’s major online community and gaming destination for teens, HABBO, as Director of Marketing for North America. The announcement was made today by Paul Thind, General Manager, Habbo U.S. Habbo has over 1.7 million unique users on its highly-trafficked U.S. site, www.habbo.com, and currently operates in 18 countries. There are 51M registered Habbos worldwide.

In this newly-created position, Hall will be heading up all marketing activity, including cross promotions, advertising and branding for the Habbo property, as well as taking an active role in the licensing for the brand. Recently Habbo has featured major brand cross promotions, including a branded online “hang out” with Teen People magazine and a series of online interactive version games highlighting the Olympic Games with NBC.

Previously, Hall served as President of ijane inc., a non-profit production company, where she produced and directed the Face the Issue Public Service Announcement (PSA) Campaign, created to address mental health issues facing today’s young adults. The campaign included seven animated PSA’s, which featured the voices of celebrities such as Nicole Kidman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Halle Berry, and ran on several major networks. The PSAs were recognized by The Prism Awards, and by various news outlets, including CNN. The New York Times claimed the campaign was “a model for what future communications with young people will look like."

While at ijane, Hall also created the animated interactive application for UCLA's "Internet Treatment Delivery of Parent-Adolescent Conflict Training for Families with an ADHD Teen: A Feasibility Study." The animated shorts were the cornerstone of the study, which examined the feasibility of Internet delivery of a Parent-Adolescent Conflict Training (PACT) program to families with an ADHD teen.

Prior to co-founding and heading up ijane, inc., Hall wrote and produced the award-winning, critically acclaimed The Spot, the first original episodic series broadcast online. Subsequently, the creators of The Spot hired her to write for their next online serial, Grapejam, and the success of both projects caught the attention of America Online, where Hall wrote and produced “Entertainment Asylum,” AOL's entertainment initiative.

Simultaneously, iXL, an Internet consulting firm, recruited Melanie to conceive and produce strategies for global brands such as FritoLay, Yahoo!, Excite, Lycos, WebMD and Warner Bros. among others, in order to establish their Internet presence and compete in the online world.
