Betfair Poker Sweeten the Pot in Cork Classic

Betfair Poker have added €10,000 to the pot at the Irish Classic Poker Festival Main Event.

(PRWEB) June 30, 2006 -- Betfair Poker will add €10,000 to the “Main Event” prize pool at the Irish Classic Poker Festival.

Cork’s Macau Casino is hosting the festival and has teamed up with Betfair Poker to put on the Main Event. With an expected 170 runners paying €1000, the anticipated prize pool is now €180,000.

The televised Main Event runs over two days and will be the highlight of the poker festival. The festival also includes freeze-out and cash games of Omaha and Texas Hold’em.

There will be a Ladies Freeroll for a seat at the Main Event to add to the increasing number of female poker players at the tournament.

Also, an event called the Betfair Poker Pub Challenge will take place. This is the final of a series of pub-based qualifiers that are going on all over Cork. It will be on August 20, and for those who failed to qualify at the pub, it is possible to buy in direct to this tournament for €270.

The festival takes place from August 16 to August 20 and qualification for the main event is possible online at Betfair Poker as well as by direct buy-in.

Notes to editors:
1.   Satellites direct to the tournament are running every Sunday on Betfair Poker at 6:30pm. Super Satellites to Sunday’s qualifier are available daily on Betfair Poker at 7:30pm for $23.50.
2.   Packages won through online satellites at Betfair Poker are worth $2000.
3.   Other than the main event, buy-in for tournaments during the festival range from between €270 and €540.
