Golf Gear News Continues to Add Listeners from Around the Globe
A biweekly podcast by Bruce Stasch, called Golf Gear News, continues to add listeners from around the globe who tune in to hear his quirky take on golf.
(PRWEB) July 5, 2006 -- Started in October 2005, the Golf Gear News show has continued to expand its listenership and increase its downloads. The bi-weekly 20-25 minute podcast hosted by Bruce Stasch, the self-described Golf Gear Guru, has been entertaining listeners with segments like Golf of the Weird, She Golfs Too, Mythbusters, Golf Around the World and Interviews with the Guru.
"I’ve really been overwhelmed by the positive feedback we’ve been receiving from the golfing public. As more and more of them find us, we’ve been tailoring the show to the kind of topics they find appealing," said Stasch. "They especially like the offbeat and more obscure subjects we report on such as the Golf Pond Bodycount (so far, three), the Geese Police, and when I commented on the Exploitation of Michelle Wie."
Just this Spring, the Golf Gear News show has been mentioned online at World Golf.com, was a featured site on Podcast Free America and ranks as tops in the golf category on Podcast Alley, the web's largest directory of podcasts. Stasch has been heard on the Travelgolf.com weekly podcast and Rita Maloney's Sports Saturday show on WCCO-Radio, Minnesota’s largest talk station. The show has also been a very popular subject with the local Minnesota business media too, appearing in Twin Cities Business and Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
Earlier this year, Business Week online also named 10 sports podcasts, including Stasch's Golf Gear News, as the best on the web. The writer called it a "newsy, offbeat podcast that blends golf headlines with regular features such as golf for women and interviews with obscure and overlooked equipment manufacturers. The day I tuned in, I even got the lowdown on Annika Sorrenstam's new boyfriend."
A Worldgolf.com syndicated writer William Wolfrum also stated "Golf Gear News' Bruce Stasch brings enthusiasm and a reporter-like zeal to his informative podcast that covers everything from wacky golf news to equipment reviews."
"This was just an experiment that really started to take off," Stasch explains. "I began with just a simple microphone but quickly upgraded the operation with better sound and phone interviewing equipment. The Golf Gear News show has quickly grown and I just released my 17th episode. Listeners are being added every day and we hope to become the leading alternative to mainstream golf news and information," explained Stasch, the Golf Gear Guru.
Golf Gear News is an extension of two of Stasch’s e-commerce businesses. The primary one, www.golfknockoff.com, allows buyers to "clone" golf clubs of popular brand name manufacturers. A second site, www.clubbuilders.net, offers similar products to clubbuilding professionals who can buy at a volume discount. "We developed this site after seeing that 20 percent of the customers of www.golfknock.com were clubbuilders and were buying the components and assembling the products themselves," he explains. “This site offers a clubbuilder a much larger selection than any of our competitors."
