Gavin Keilly President of GBK Productions (Formally GBK Events) decides to give back to his Client "Educating Young Minds" and helps a child in need.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 1, 2006 -- Gavin Keilly continuously gives to the various non-profits that he works with, but no organization has touched him so greatly as Educating Young Minds. EYM was founded in 1987 when Ms. Echols, then a community college and elementary school instructor, was asked to tutor children. What began in a one-room apartment with two students and only $50.00 has blossomed into a multi-faceted and diverse organization that has touched the lives of over 2,000 students. EYM’s four vigorous programs serve students (ages 4 ½ to 18) from the greater Los Angeles region that are considered under-represented or at high risk in our society. Ms.Echols is truly an Angel trying to make a difference in the world.
Ms Echols called Gavin into her office to ask how they could raise additional funds to help this one child who was a Senior in High School and just received all A's, yet unfortunately the program didn't have enough funds to help him. Gavin was so touch by the fact a young man who was so motivated to succeed and was only hindered by the fact he could not afford to go college, that he personally pledged the scholarship. Gavin said, "It is terrible that these kids will do everything they can to succeed and are not given the opportunity to go college simply because of their financial predicament"
Educating Young Minds 100% high-school graduation rate and 89% collegiate rate continues to encourage students and parents that all dreams can come true.
EYM's Annual Gala took place on June 25th and was Extremely Successful. Six different people in the audience stood up at the end of the scholarship presentation and pledged a lap top to the students leaving for college.
Even though the event raised a substantial amount, the program is $45,000 short to reaching their goals of providing all the scholarships’ and the afterschool programs necessary.
