GALA Reaches 200 Members

Since its inception in 2002, GALA, the Globalization and Localization Association, has seen growing strength in membership numbers. As of this month, GALA proudly boasts 200 member companies with strong representation from around the globe.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) July 6, 2006 -- Since its inception in 2002, GALA, the Globalization and Localization Association, has seen growing strength in membership numbers. As of this month, GALA proudly boasts 200 member companies with strong representation from around the globe.

“We are very pleased to hit this milestone, one that has been a goal since GALA began,” stated GALA Chairman Aki Ito. “Our membership is expanding rapidly in several parts of the world, including Asia, and GALA is becoming acknowledged as the leading association of the localization industry on a global scale.”

Recognized by ClientSide News as the “Association of the Year” in the world of localization and translation for four consecutive years, GALA has become the membership organization of choice. GALA has displayed dedication to the industry through its support and development of industry events and resources as well as educational initiatives.

Earlier this year, GALA announced its new Career Services Center offering an on-line resume database and improved job postings features. GALA also spearheaded a new localization certification program at The California State University, Chico in conjunction with the Localization Institute. In addition, GALA is one of the original founders and supporters of Localization World, the leading industry conference for localization professionals and customers.

A recent membership survey showed that members are satisfied with the benefits of GALA membership. 93% of the participants in the survey said that they would recommend GALA membership to their peers while 74% of the participants rated GALA’s collaboration-related activities, like information exchange among members, as good or excellent.

Ito further stated that “GALA’s mission of raising the visibility of the localization industry and bringing value to customers will continue to build as membership grows.”

GALA offers the expertise of its membership base to localization customers and the media alike, providing a mechanism to create opportunities for its members to collaborate for the benefit of the health of the industry as a whole. GALA invites all companies providing translation, localization, internationalization, or globalization products or services to join.

GALA is an international non-profit association that promotes translation services, language technology and language management solutions. The member companies worldwide include translation agencies, localization service providers, globalization consultants, internationalization specialists and technology developers. GALA companies share a commitment to quality, service and innovation in helping clients reach global markets. Visit www.gala-global.org.
