Genealogists Become Even More Sociable
The launch of myGenea a new Social Bookmarking Site aimed at the Genealogist and Family Historian
(PRWEB) July 3, 2006 -- 1st July 2006 sees the launch of myGenea the first dedicated Genealogy Social Bookmarking site.
There’s no doubting that Genealogists or Family History Researchers are a sociable group of people. However, myGenea gives them even greater opportunity to interact with each other by sharing their favourite sites and also viewing other genealogists favourites. No longer will anyone have to scroll through countless forum postings to find that valuable link they remember seeing because when they first come across it they can add it straight to myGenea by using an icon they can add to their browser toolbar. As Paul Duxbury explained “one of the great features of myGenea is that it enables our registered users to access their favourite Genealogy links from any computer which is a great advantage when you are out and about researching your Family Tree.”
The registered user of myGenea adds their favourite bookmarks to the site and then tags them with appropriate keywords. They can choose to mark them as private or public which determines whether other visitors to the site can see the links they have added. If a user wants to share them with a particular group of friends or fellow researchers they can mark them to be shared with a specific group of people.
Social Bookmarking is growing in popularity with the advent of a number of large services which cater for just about everyone. However, myGenea with it’s particular focus on Genealogy Links will be an invaluable resource for Genealogists and Family History Researchers around the world.
