Utility Hurricane Guide, Annual Report Win International Awards
Kissimmee Utility Authority was honored with three awards in APEX 2006, the eighteenth annual international awards program recognizing excellence in printed and online publications.
Kissimmee, FL (PRWEB) July 3, 2006 –- Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) was honored today with three awards in APEX 2006, the eighteenth annual international awards program recognizing excellence in printed and online publications.
KUA received a Grand Award – one of only 105 given out worldwide – for its 2005 Osceola Hurricane Handbook.
The 36-page handbook is packed with important information on hurricanes and floods, plus helpful Osceola County phone numbers, a disaster supplies checklist and a storm tracking chart. The handbook can be downloaded at http://www.kua.com/Files/2005-KUA-Hurricane-Guide.pdf.
The utility received awards of excellence for both the electronic version of its 2005 annual report and the publication's photography.
The 48-page annual report, titled "A Lifetime of Power," pays tribute to the utility's Roy E. Hansel diesel plant which was decommissioned in September 2005 after 104 years of continuous service. The report is available online at http://www.kua.com/corporate/press/reports.
APEX winners were chosen from nearly 5,000 entries received from government, private corporations and nonprofit organizations throughout the United States and Canada. Other notable winners included AARP, Costco Wholesale, DaimlerChrysler, NASA and the National Association of Realtors.
