CityLocal - A New City Hub
A new way for businesses & local customers to come together.
(PRWEB) July 6, 2006 - A new Dundee-based website claiming a number of "world firsts" has been launched by a city businessman. CityLocal, which aims to be a "hub" providing access to a comprehensive list of information about the Tayside capital, is the brainchild of Nazir Daud.
Mr. Daud, who built up a packaging company from scratch to a 2 million pound turnover in five years before selling it in a management buy-out, decided to create the website after struggling to find information about local businesses. His first website - http://www.citylocal.co.uk/cities/Dundee/ -- provides information about tourism, entertainment, businesses, dating and the weather in Dundee. However, plans are already underway to repeat the format in a franchise operation around the country.
He said, "The idea of CityLocal came to me when I was searching on the internet for a local business. I had great difficulty in finding the business. When I did eventually find it all I got was name & phone number which didn't tell me much about the business at all."
"CityLocal contains contact details for lots of local companies and, for the first time, it gives people who use these services the chance to review the firms. This way, it will be possible for everyone visiting the site to find out what sort of reputation a firm has before they call them."
"Another first is the fact that our dating service is completely free and will always remain so. A lot of companies promise free dating and once you have handed your information they ask you to pay before you can receive emails from interested parties. Dating at CityLocal is absolutely 100% free from start to finish"
"We also have a 'swap shop' for computer games and music where kids -- and their parents -- can exchange products that they've grown tired off completely free of charge. That's another world first."
CityLocal has now gone "live" in Dundee and Mr Daud is pushing ahead with plans to spread the concept throughout the UK. He is now looking for entrepreneurs in other towns and cities who will be keen to build their own CityLocal site.
He added, "The concept is already proving popular and we believe it will enjoy success all over the UK. It's our intention to have scores of CityLocal franchise websites in operation."
