New York (PRWEB) July 6, 2006
Mobotix, provider of advanced IP based video solutions, today announced the opening of their new US headquarters at 40 Fulton Street in New York. Mobotix is starting with five employees in New York and 2,054 square feet of office space, with plans of adding another 20 to 30 employees over the next couple of years. Headquartered in Germany, Mobotix operates offices around the world and are enjoying rapid expansion in the US market.
Governor George E. Pataki said, "The announcement of Mobotix's new U.S. headquarters in Lower Manhattan is further evidence that downtown is back and a great place to do business. Each new commitment to Lower Manhattan signals to the global business community that New York remains the financial capital of the world. I commend Mobotix on its decision that will help us make New York prouder, stronger and better than ever."
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said, “Mobotix's decision to locate its U.S. headquarters in Lower Manhattan is another example of how a business-friendly environment can attract world-class companies to New York City. We are pleased to welcome Mobotix and its employees to Lower Manhattan. Their new headquarters is a tribute to the area's resurgence and reaffirms that our Administration's efforts to transform Lower Manhattan into a vibrant mixed-use neighborhood are paying off.”
Mobotix has ushered in a whole new era in video surveillance and video technology by replacing analog signals, interlaced fields, and low resolutions with the advances of specialized software and digital technology. Mobotix cameras combine two high-resolution digital image sensors with a powerful Linux PC and forgoes the usual hardware compression (codec) with a simple software package. In addition, the optics are highly optimized and mounted firmly in place without any moving parts. For these reasons among others, Mobotix cameras are extremely low-maintenance and capable of withstanding wide ranges of temperature.
“The new office will strengthen our business development initiatives in North America and help support our growing US customer base,” said Dr. Ralf Hinkel, CEO. “We are particularly pleased to be in the Financial District as Governor Pataki, Mayor Bloomberg, and their respective teams have created a very business friendly environment for high tech companies.”
With Mobotix, features are integrated into the camera so that no additional software is required. The camera can be configured using a web browser that also displays images. In that sense, Mobotix is the new face of IP video: self-contained and easily accessible.
The Mobotix expansion coincides with the US introduction of the new significantly improved hardware platform to be used in the M22M megapixel camera series.
The new platform, including improved image processing and coding functions, was completely developed and implemented in Germany. Over the course of the next year, this new platform will also be integrated into other camera models made by Mobotix.
