Vitamin Angel Alliance Continues Commitment to Earthquake Victims in Indonesia

Vitamin Angel Alliance, a non-profit organization designed to fight malnutrition and childhood blindness around the world, is continuing its efforts to bring emergency supplies and nutritional supplements to villagers in the earthquake-ravaged Jogyakarta region of Indonesia.

Santa Barbara, CA (PRWEB) July 6, 2006 -- Vitamin Angel Alliance, a non-profit organization designed to fight malnutrition and childhood blindness around the world, is continuing its efforts to bring emergency supplies and nutritional supplements to villagers in the earthquake-ravaged Jogyakarta region of Indonesia.

“The situation on the ground remains grim, and getting nutritional supplements to those in the affected region is essential for reducing the risk of opportunistic infections and disease,” stated Howard B. Schiffer, founder and president, Vitamin Angel Alliance. “It is important that we do not forget about the devastation in Indonesia, and I am hoping that additional companies will come forward and make product or monetary donations to aid our ongoing relief efforts.”

Vitamin Angel Alliance would like to thank the following partners for their generous contributions to and support of relief efforts in Indonesia: Rainbow Light Nutritional Systems, Panacea, Highland Labs, Avocare Int’l, NOW Foods, Water Pure, Herbally Yours, Inverness Medical Nutritional, Pure Essence Labs, Shaklee, NAI, NPI Center, Courtney Jacobs and Jeff Hilton at IMG Branding, Dot Boyd and NNFA West, and Alisa Sears and everyone at Christie Communications.

According to Vitamin Angel Alliance’s network of partners on the ground in Indonesia, more than 5,700 people have died, 40,000-50,000 people have been injured and 600,000 people remain homeless. Additionally, the nearby Mount Merapi volcano has been spewing gas and scientists have noted that the peak’s fragile lava dome still poses a large threat to thousands of neighboring villagers.

Vitamin Angel Alliance is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization dedicated to providing basic nutrition and fighting vitamin A deficiency childhood blindness around the world since 1994. Last year, Vitamin Angels donated more than 100 million supplements to people in need in 40 countries around the world.
