Cockpit USA, the aviation and military inspired clothing line will launch at retail in August.

Introducing Cockpit USA – a new collection inspired by classic American heritage sportswear. Blending luxury with a sense of historic authenticity, the Cockpit collection launches for fall 2006 with a full collection for men and a capsule collection of uniquely directional, sexy jackets for women.

Drawing its inspiration from a sportswear heritage that endures the test of time, Cockpit launches a focused grouping of classic fashion jackets with the rugged foundations of authentic American apparel. A grey wool blazer inspired by a military officer’s jacket, a tough as nails leather biker jacket, and a comfy plaid wool hunting jacket with a super soft shearling collar are key styles.

Designer Jeff Clyman, who founded the legendary Avirex brand 30 years ago has applied his extensive experience to deliver superior fabrications, incorporating ageless organic materials such as leather, sheepskin, cashmere and cotton - with the latest innovations in hi-textiles, washes and treatments. Wool outerwear exudes a luxurious touch. Premium American tanned and drummed leathers are transformed into historically correct yet fashion forward cycle and flight jackets- carefully re-patterned and updated to fit today’s active lifestyles and “made in the USA.” Details recall a fonder time - when practicality mixed with sophistication were the touchstones of a well-made garment.

The Cockpit collection is designed by Jeff Clyman, WWII combat aircraft collector and pilot, high performance vehicle connoisseur and the founding force behind the Avirex brand. During Clyman’s 30 year leadership of Avirex, the company emerged as a world class sportswear and outerwear company, as well as a major US Military supplier of leather flight jackets and apparel to the Army, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard. There’s a sense of authenticity and history in every piece Clyman designs in the Cockpit collection.
