Open Localization Wikipedia Released

Transco released an open localization knowledge base.

(PRWEB) July 9, 2006 -- Transco, the leading localization service provider in Asia, releases an open interactive knowledge base, www.OKLocalization.org. Initiated as a knowledge base for localiztion managers, OKLocalization is one of the series innovation programs from Transco.

OKLocalization is a non-profit website that opens to all localization professionals and anyone interested in localization specific topics, which aims to build a free localization wikipedia that any user can edit. Powered by MediaWiki, OKLocalization is open to Transco staff at the first stage, sharing knowledge among different divisions. Now, it’s open to public for further editing. Using easy to use editing tools, interactive community, and separate discussion choices, OKLocalization takes full advantage of typical Wiki functions.

"We’re acting for cooperation and communication within the industry, both technically and generally. To enhance a sharing of a localization knowledge base centralized, we try MediaWiki. It’s challenging and interesting to keep technology running for innovation", said Elly Liu, OKLocalization administrator.

"We’ve accumulated some experiences during practice and wish to share it. And hope that our colleagues within the trade are also willing to do so. Localization is a smaller world comparing to others. However, we can make it as colorful and interesting as well, by trying something new and always trying something new. It’s the first time for us to release something under construction and we'll continue to support the community as the chief content contributor, administrator, and arbitrator if necessary. We sincerely welcome everyone to participate".
