Author Kamichi Jackson Inks Deal with Acclaimed Artist Rene Dickerson

Creative duo collaborate to prepare kids project for licensing opportunities.

Herndon, VA (PRWEB) July 12, 2006

Author Kamichi Jackson recently launched a creative campaign of eBay auctions aimed at raising visibility of her considerable writing talents. Those auctions have not resulted in any creative deals as of yet, but a recent side conversation with acclaimed veteran artist Rene Dickerson did.

"Color is irrelevant...we’re all just a box of crayons." That’s the message Dickerson brought to the canvas when he originally conceptualized his "Colored Kids" series years ago. Taking that message to another level, Dickerson has enlisted the services of Jackson, who will add her own creative touches, spending the next several months creating a colorful cast of crayon-shaped multicultural characters between the ages of four and eleven. Jackson will build a fictional world around the animated youngsters, penning age-appropriate stories (for both web and print release) to attract and engage both young and middle grade readers. The creative duo also plans to approach a select list of licensing agents to represent the intellectual property by year end.

"This is a bigger deal for me than it is for Rene, I believe," Jackson muses. "He’s already an established figure. Well-known, highly respected, extremely talented. My creative and writing talents have only been exposed to a limited number of people, mostly those children and parents who have become fans of my first book and its title character, Reggie Brown. I’ve been aching to create on this level, and this is my opportunity to prove myself. I’m hoping it’ll open more doors to me. One of the very first things I’m hoping it will do, in fact, is get me a meeting with the superstar music production duo Trackmasters (Tone and Poke), to discuss their upcoming Kids Block project. I want so much to be on board with them, but getting to them hasn’t been easy. Perhaps as a result of the project with Rene, I’ll someday be able to report a collab with them as well."
