Andrew Binstock of BZ Media's Software Development (SD) Times advised U.S. programmers to profit from the outsourcing wave, rather than fighting against it "in a losing struggle".

Binstock explained how U.S. based programmers are already doing this at a site called Rent A Coder (http://www.RentACoder.com). Developers there are complementing their own skills with an overseas programmer to increase their own productivity. Says one developer about a project he developed in this manner, “I know C++ and I’ve done Assembly Language development, so I could have learned PHP and set it up myself. But I could not have done it as fast, as well or as cheaply as by outsourcing it this way.”

This trend is clearly on the rise, as two out of the top 10 most productive coders on the Rent a Coder web site (ranked from a pool of over 150,000+) are now located in the U.S. “At these prices, it makes lots of sense for even small firms to consider outsourcing projects and smart folks will figure out how to exploit the benefits to their professional advantage,” says Binstock.
