New Book on Natural Remedy for Diabetes Written by Frank Murray

"Ampalaya: Nature's Remedy for Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes," written by Frank Murray documents how the Ampalaya --known in the USA as Bitter Melon or Bitter Gourd--dramatically lowers blood sugar levels in diabetics. Numerous case histories explain how this is accomplished by eating the vegetable or using a tea or capsule made from it.

(PRWEB) July 16, 2006 -- "Ampalaya: Nature's Remedy for Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes," by Frank Murray, published by Basic Health Publications, Laguna Beach, Calif.

Diabetes mellitus is the fifth leading cause of death in the United States, accounting for almost 800,000 new cases annually. This impending epidemic is expected to reach 22 million Americans by 2025, up from 16 million in 2001, bringing an increase in heart disease, blindness, kidney failure, and amputations. Because of obesity and sedentary lifestiles, the epidemic is spreading worldwide.

Contributing to the disease are the risk factors associated with metabolic syndrome--previously called Syndrome X--including abdominal obesity, raised cholesterol and triglyceride levels, high blood pressure and a fasting glucose level less than 100 mg/dl.

Frank Murray's new book documents how this versatile vegetable--known in the U.S. as bitter melon or bitter gourd--dramatically lowers blood sugar levels in diabetics. Numerous case histories explain how this is accomplished by eating the vegetable or using a tea or capsule made from it.

While specifics of how Ampalaya lowers blood sugar levels are still being investigated, the vegetable's constituents tell the story, including its content of protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, vitamin A, B vitamins, vitamin C, polypeptides, fatty acids, p-insulin, and others.

The book includes numerous scientific studies, involving both human beings and animals, further supporting the efficacy of using Ampalaya to lower blood sugar levels. Some researchers refer to one of its constituents as "vegetable insulin."

Also included are the importance of nutrition, exercise, and support groups, and the book spells out how diabetics can care for their eyes, kidneys and feet.

Frank Murray is Senior Editorial Advisor for Let’s Live, GreatLife, Physical, and Get Active! Magazines in Los Angeles. A member of the New York Academy of Sciences, he is the author or co-author of forty-six books on health and nutrition which have sold over one million copies, including 100 Super Supplements for a Longer Life, Natural Supplements for Diabetes, and You Must Eat Meat, with Max Ernest Jutte, M.D. Murray is a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he received the Sigma Delta Chi Outstanding Graduate Award.

In 2005, Frank Murray traveled to the Philippines to research and gain a first-hand look at the Ampalaya and how it is used to help diabetics in the country. His new book, Ampalaya: Nature’s Remedy for Type 1 & Type 2 Diabetes contains many case studies observed during his time in the Philippines, as well as numerous cases and documented studies from Europe and the USA.

At the National Nutritional Food Asscoiation’s conevention in Las Vegas, Nevada, in July 2006, Frank Murray will receive the Association’s President’s Award, joining previous winners Dr. Richard Passwater, Dr. Earl Mindell, Attorney Robert Ullman, and Jack LaLanne. Frank Murray lives in New York City.
