Ready to Serve The National Association of Black Sports Professionals (NABSP) Announces Open Membership
With many potential members anxiously awaiting the official membership opening of The National Association of Black Sports Professionals (NABSP), the Association announced that it will officially open membership today, July 5, 2006.
New York, NY (PRWEB) July 14, 2006 -- With many potential members anxiously awaiting the official membership opening of The National Association of Black Sports Professionals (NABSP), the Association announced that it will officially open membership today, July 5, 2006. The Association will open membership nationally, and will have two formal chapters in place in Cleveland, Ohio and New York. The Cleveland chapter will be the charter chapter of NABSP, as it was the first formal chapter to be organized. The Association is headquartered in New York City, and currently has chapters developing in Columbus, OH; Charlotte, NC; Miami, FL; Chicago, IL; Atlanta, GA; Philadelphia, PA; Detroit, MI; Indianapolis, IN; and Dallas, TX.
NABSP is the first national professional association for Black sports professionals, and will provide a platform for enhancing the presence, awareness, and industry exposure of Black sports professionals, thus contributing to the progress and growth of Black professionals in sports. The Association will serve as a catalyst for increasing diversity at all levels in the sports industry, and will work to promote the continuous elevation of Black professionals to positions of influence in sports and sports-related fields.
“Opening membership is an exciting step for NABSP, as it allows us to fully facilitate an ongoing exchange of industry information, resources, and best practices among Black sports professionals, while also allowing our members to cultivate and foster long-term business relationships. We can now truly begin connecting, educating and empowering Black sports professionals.” says Kristi Stepteau, Founder and Chairman of NABSP.
The Association offers many member programs and services, some of which include professional development and educational seminars and workshops, executive mentoring programs, a career resource center, and a job bank. In addition, the Association will work to establish a presence in local communities through various outreach programs and initiatives that encourage and foster youth sports industry interest beyond the playing field or court.
