New Florida Marina is Open to the Public - Welcome News In Wave of Dockominiums
Loggerhead Club & Marina- Riviera Beach
Award Winning Riviera Beach Marina Now Open to Public
In the age of Dockominiums, Opening of All New Marina Open to the Public is Welcome News
Riviera Beach, FL (PRWEB) July 16, 2006 -- In the age of dockominiums, slip space is shrinking daily. Most recently, three marinas in Tampa, Naples and Key West turned owner-only. There is, however, good news for Florida’s boaters - one marina group has just opened an all new 300 space marina open to the public.
Loggerhead Club & Marina, Riviera Beach is now open, providing luxury accommodations in a boating club atmosphere. South Florida’s newest, is a fully hurricane rated, complete service dry storage marina, providing sheltered inside storage for 300 boats up to 46 feet in length, or 52,000 pounds. Built to the latest hurricane codes, the all new Caribbean style structural steel building is located on Blue Heron Boulevard on the direct Intracoastal waterfront overlooking Singer Island.
“We are open and taking reservations for space at our newest marina facility,” says Raymond Graziotto, co-owner of Loggerhead Club & Marina, Riviera Beach. “As we enter this new 2006 storm season, we are providing for the inside sheltered storage of boats, including the larger boats, and we have two of the world’s largest marine forklifts ever built to place and retrieve these larger vessels.” says Graziotto.
The location of Loggerhead Club & Marina, Riviera Beach is in the heart of prime boating waters with step aboard convenience and well-marked channels clearly leading boaters in and out of the channels. The marina is near newly sculpted Peanut Island and the Lake Worth Inlet, the best all weather inlet on the east coast of Florida. Loggerhead Club & Marina, Riviera Beach, is less than five minutes from the Palm Beach Inlet, with no bridges or other obstructions less than 65’ preventing full access and enjoyment.
As the 2006 hurricane season approaches, boaters are being cautious, heeding warnings about securing advance storage for their vessels. Recent legislative mandates may cause boat owners to re-evaluate their plans and develop a hurricane plan. Legislation recently signed by Governor Jeb Bush, allows marinas to secure or remove boats when a hurricane approaches and charge vessel owners for this service. Loggerhead Club & Marina, Riviera Beach is hurricane rated, built to the latest codes, and is a valuable resource for boaters seeking hurricane shelter.
“Boat owners are increasingly required to be better prepared, and this building can be the solution for your hurricane plan,” says Jeff Moore, of Anderson-Moore Construction Company. Anderson Moore constructed the boat barn, using a painted flush steel panel Butler Building system set on 30 foot auger cast piles drilled directly into the ground. According to Moore, the construction method involves filling steel cages with concrete – designed to keep the support piles from pulling out of the ground, or water eroding the building.
The slabs are 12-18” thick, able to withstand the weight of the world’s largest marine forklifts, custom built by Wiggins Lift, and capable of lifting some of the largest boats in the area. The roof is a structural steel standing seam metal roof designed to protect against uplift winds on the building, all according to the latest in hurricane construction standards.
“Certainly in a storm, indoor storage has an advantage of protecting the boat from wind borne debris and bent outriggers,” says Graziotto. “Even absent storm conditions, indoor storage can have significant advantages-a covered building protects the boat from UV ray damage to the finish, and the facility provides a high level of security for wind, fire, vandalism and theft.”
The dry storage facility uses the latest design in galvanized rack systems. The racks won’t rust as many others do, dropping rust and debris on stored boats, and they are raised well above the flood plain for the area.
According to Graziotto, there are numerous other advantages to storing boats indoors.
“When they join us by being a Loggerhead Club & Marina Member they get significant benefits, including trip planning, events and annual Bahamian excursions, currently planned for the end of July.”
