Financial consultant and author Michael Fluker has recently authored the book The Stewardship Model, which combines traditional concepts of Christian giving with contemporary financial strategies. The book educates its readers on how to achieve financial success while embracing a Christian perspective.
In The Stewardship Model, Fluker defines stewardship as “a natural progression to prosperity.” Using Biblical models, he describes how the lessons he learned throughout his personal financial struggles and the model he developed to address and eradicate them can lead to personal and financial freedom.
When he moved to Sarasota, Fluker “arrived with $100 in [his] pocket, several thousand in credit card debt, no job, and no place to live,” but after living as a personal and financial steward, he eventually “eliminated his debt, purchased a home, and funded his own investments.” Fluker’s model is based on the Biblical concept of stewardship, which he defines as “the process by which God shares His gifts to the world through the use of your talents and abilities.”
The book outlines two stewardship models, both of which Fluker purports must be fully developed in order for an individual to improve his or her financial success. Personal stewardship entails cultivating your belief system into a mode of bolstering your talents—in short, “how you manage and increase yourself.” The second model, which illustrates financial stewardship, “involves management and increase of the money in your possession,” Fluker writes. The Stewardship Model emphasizes how both models are necessary to the fully embody of prosperity—spiritual, personal, and financial.
Fluker, who offers financial empowerment seminars and workshops based on the principles of The Stewardship Model to low- and middle-income families, also serves on the boards of directors of two local non-profit organizations, The Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe and the Bradenton Front Porch.
He is also the President and CEO of Abundant Blessing Media Group, which he founded to assist those in need of financial advice.
The Stewardship Model retails for $16.95 and is available on line at bn.com (Barnes and Noble), bamm.com (Books A Million), amazon.com and Helen's Bookstore and The Living Word Christian Store in Sarasota, FL.
