(PRWEB) July 19, 2006 -- The new team placed in charge of Sea Trail Golf Resort & Conference Center’s golf operations in 2005 ended its first year in office July 15 with accolades for its golf courses and an increase in rounds played at the resort. President of Golf, Tom Plankers, heads the team, which includes Gina Gore, director of retail; Eddie Pratt, director of golf; Angela Lewis, golf shop operations manager; public relations professionals, and operations personnel working on behalf of Sea Trail.

"It’s been a very exciting year of change and growth for us at Sea Trail," said Plankers. "The word is spreading about the improvements in our golf operations and customer service. The press has been very gracious and enthusiastic about our work and, thanks to them, news about Sea Trail has reached more than 77 million people this year through editorial about us in 28 different media. North Carolina public television even did a piece on Sea Trail and showed it at the Governor’s Conference. It’s been an awesome first year and we look forward to doing even better in the coming years. For example we will be hosting the Carolina’s Senior PGA Championship in August and the Golfweek Women's Amateur Series Mixed Team Best Ball Tournament in September.”

The team’s first year has seen customer service ratings go up and rounds of golf increase by 18%. Using expertise gained through years of running golf shops that were on Golf World Business magazine’s list of “America’s 100 Best Golf Shops,” the new team reworked the two Sea Trail golf shops and upgraded the quality of products offered.

In addition, they also debuted a full-service Sea Trail Custom Club Store that is the only facility of its kind in Brunswick County.

Other highlights during the team’s first year include:

Golf Digest ranked Sea Trail’s Maples, Jones and Byrd signature golf among the “Top 50 Courses of Myrtle Beach” in its first-ever rating of “the best [Myrtle Beach has to offer” among the Grand Strand’s 117 golf courses. The Jones Course was ranked number 30; Maples was number 44; and Byrd was number 50.

The honor of hosting the only U. S. Open qualifier along the Grand Strand in 2006 went to Sea Trail resulting in significant publicity for both Sea Trail and the event on television and in print.

The Brunswick County Chamber Of Commerce named Sea Trail its “Member Of The Year” for Sea Trail’s support of the Chamber in 2005.

North Carolina Magazine placed Sea Trail’s courses among the “Top 10 Favorite Courses — Leisure” in the state of North Carolina, the “Top 10 Favorite Courses — Best Value” in the state of North Carolina, and the “Top 5 Favorite Courses On The Coast.”
