Austin, Texas (PRWEB) July 20, 2006 -- The first ever Texas Independent Game Conference is the only conference in Texas addressing the independent game developer’s opportunity within the video game industry. The Conference creates a forum for peer-to-peer networking, showcasing, and information gathering for the independent game developer. Developers can share successes strategies, ideas, and obstacles--both financial and creative. In addition, Austin’s game developer talent pool is designated the third largest in the United States and the Conference adds value to both publishers and studios through the networking and direct feedback events.
“The Conference gives indie game developers the chance to hear from their peers and those who have faced the same challenges,” said Conference Director Steve Farrer. “The Game Demo Party on Saturday night will give everyone a chance to show off their latest ideas while having a lot of fun.”
The roundtable discussions will allow attendees to meet informally to discuss topics such as “Open Source Technology in Game Development and Game Prototyping.” The formal program for the conference includes four tracks: Veterans and Visionaries, Market Place, Tool Sets, and Game Mods. Veterans will lead attendees in seminars and presentations addressing market trends, distribution, on-line security, development tools, IP protection, structuring the deal, and mobile and casual game opportunities. Highlights include keynotes from Bioware’s, Warren Spector and Greg Costikyan with sessions from Gordon Walton, Garage Games’, Jay Moore, Real Network’s, Dan Prigg and Casual Game Association’s, Jessica Tams. The Game Demo Party closes the event while showcasing skills and talent and presenting opportunities for direct feedback from other developers and publishers
