Living Intentions’ New Chocolate Nuts Give Consumers More for Their Buck

Living Intentions has released two new products containing raw chocolate, one of the highest sources of antioxidants available.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 21, 2006 -- Living Intentions launched two new products this week as additions to their popular raw snack line, Gone Nuts. The two new flavors arriving in stores are Raw Chocolate Covered Brazil Nuts & Mulberries and Raw Chocolate Covered Jungle Peanuts And Raisins.

These new flavors are additions to the growingly popular snack line, Gone Nuts. The five original flavors are: Rosemary, Garlic & Green Onion Almond-Pistachio Medley, Sweet & Spicy Chipotle Pistachios, Sun Dried Marinara Almonds & Pistachios, Maple-Mesquite Flour Candied Walnuts, and Chocolate Covered Almonds & Raisins.

The immense popularity of the Chocolate Almonds & Raisins was the inspiration to create more flavors in the chocolate family. "We think the popularity of this product is not only because it tastes great, but because consumers are starting to look at chocolate as something healthier now," says the company’s Creative Director, Elizabeth Dahnken.

The growing awareness is in part due to recent studies touting the strong antioxidant benefits of chocolate. This motivated Living Intentions to incorporate raw chocolate, or cacao, into their two latest products. Raw chocolate has been made widely available to the public only recently. Lab tests performed on raw chocolate have shown that indeed, it is one of the richest sources of antioxidants of any food, even more so than its healthy roasted counterpart.

“We love seeking out exotic, healthy ingredients for our products,” said Joshua McHugh, Culinary Director of Living Intentions. “Not only does it increase the products’ health benefits, but it really brings a special, unique quality to the experience for consumers.”

The uniqueness of the Gone Nuts products, however, starts with their production process. The nuts are soaked for several hours before being seasoned and then dried at very low temperatures. This is all done to protect the nutrient and enzyme value in the food, which would otherwise be greatly reduced if the nuts were cooked.

McHugh has headed the research and development of each flavor in the Gone Nuts line. Living Intentions is expected to release its 8th flavor soon. “Our 8th addition will contain all the vibrant flavor and health qualities as the rest of our products,” indicated Dahnken. “We are confident it’s going to be a big hit.”
