Holmes Stamp & Sign located in Jacksonville, FL was contacted by the marketing firm for NBC’s hit show The Apprentice to manufacture 1,100 rubber stamps to be used for the promotion of the DVD release for the show. The order was placed in Florida on a Thursday and delivered on the following Monday to the California address. The stamp was a 3” x 5” traditional Rubber stamp with the catch phrase of “Your Fired”. The hit show is known for firing people ever week, but this is a case of a company being “hired”. Bryan Croft, the Company Vice President, stated “We are a small company that is equipped to handle the large orders of any type of rubber stamps, be it for business or for marketing. We promised the company in California that we could get the stamps to them within 2 days and we did! Croft stated “I was a little worried but we got it done, we have been in business for 54 years because we keep our promises.”
Holmes Stamp Company was founded by Owen Holmes, Jr., who started making stamps in his garage. Owen’s hobby became a business in 1954. Mr. Holmes retired in 1985, after founding and establishing a very successful business, which, by the time of his retirement, had begun manufacturing not just stamps, but engraved signs and notary seals. After his retirement, Mr. Holmes' son, known as Skeets, who had worked for his father since 1975, ran Holmes Stamp Company. Bob Croft, a partial owner since 1985 who had started at Holmes Stamp Company as a delivery driver at age 19, took over upon Skeets' retirement in 1998.
Holmes Stamp Company continues its commitment to an unbeatable work ethic and focus on exceptional customer service that Mr. Holmes implemented when he started the business. Today, these values live on as Bob Croft and his son Bryan operate Holmes Stamp Company with the help of competent and knowledgeable employees, some of whom have been working for Holmes Stamp Company for over twenty years.
