Filmmaker Offers Novel-in-Progress in Blog Form on the Internet

Innovative filmmaker Stephen Mitchell has chosen to introduce "Hinky", his new novel-in-progress, by way of a blog on the Internet. Consistent with the unorthodox presentation of his critically-acclaimed cable TV series "(Interview)" and Internet soap "Confessions", Mitchell has again broken the rules on presenting creative content to the public.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 24, 2006 -- Stephen Mitchell has created a blog with which to offer “Hinky”, his novel-in-progress recounting the actions of an L.A.P.D. Sergeant and an irresistible criminal intent on drawing the policeman into a series of illegal acts that will be life-changing whether successful or not (See: http://hinkynovel.blogspot.com/).

“I’ve always been known for the irony in my work. My influences have been Terry Southern, Elmore Leonard and Martin Amis. Taking the process from the film or television screen to the written page has been an extraordinary challenge. The backdrop for “Hinky” was well established for me after a number of ride-alongs in downtown Los Angeles with an L.A.P.D. Sergeant who, I should say, bore no resemblance of any sort to the Sergeant in my novel.”

Taking the unusual approach of posting a novel incrementally on the Internet is consistent with the way Stephen has introduced his work in the past. His first foray into experimental story-telling was the creation of the celebrated cable TV series “(Interview)”, which won critical praise, a celebrity fan base (including Marlon Brando, T-Bone Burnett, Henry Jaglom and Christopher Penn) a first-look deal with TriStar Pictures and story sales to production companies for motion picture and television development. Ultimately, five hundred half-hour segments were produced.

Born and raised in southern California, Stephen began his filmmaking career in Paris, France with the satirical Montmartre, followed shortly by The French Chef, which starred the Cesar-winning actor Philippe Leotard. Since returning to California, Stephen has written, produced and directed 11 movies, created and produced the critically-acclaimed Confessions web and (Interview) television series and judged Best Directing in a Comedy Series for the CableACE awards during the last nine years of its existence. He is currently co-producing a documentary on the story of Victor DeNoble with Charlie Evans, Jr.(The Aviator 2004).
