Peer-ISR Makes Instant Recovery of Misused, Failed, or Corrupt Windows System Partitions a Reality

Almost every Windows user and administrator has experienced a “blue screen” at some time, and a simple reboot does not always cure the problem. On average traditional recovery methods take more than four hours. With Peer-ISR recovery is almost immediate, workstation or server; data protection and high availability all in one package.

Malvern, UK (PRWEB) July 23, 2006 -- Peer-ISR Workstation and Server Editions provide Windows based systems with provide an unprecedented level of availability. This is achieved by being able to boot into a saved “snapshot” image of the protect system. These snapshots are not just static, one off creations. They can be run on a regular basis to supplement standard backup strategies, or to capture changes on a system partition whilst still allowing access to common data across multiple snapshots.

With Peer-ISR, system recovery is almost immediate. After installation and creation of an alternate snapshot of the system, a Peer-ISR pre-Windows boot user interface can be invoked by pressing a hot key (the default is 'F1') prior to its time-out. Inside this user interface is a listing of all pre-recorded snapshots that were taken from within Windows. After installation you see the original system image and the first copy of that image made during set-up. Selection of the alternate (backup) snapshot is available, and the system will proceed to boot from this newly created snapshot. This procedure is all that is needed to recover the system should the current system image fail. After installation is completed up to ten system image snapshots can be created from within the Peer-ISR Windows operating system user interface.

In summary, Peer-ISR is a productivity tool, since it significantly reduces the Mean Time To Recover (MTTR) a failed system. It enables the end user to continue using their computer, and IT staff to quickly repair system crashes, rather than spend time on rebuilding. In this context, it is a "high availability" product. Peer-ISR can immediately determine if the problem with the failed system is hardware rather than software related.

Peer-ISR features include; proprietary open file technology permitting allows the creation of true point-in-time snapshots of the system volume, even if files are in use. A differential (changed files only) copy engine for fast snapshot updates. Data anchoring makes data files available to any snapshot that is booted. Snapshot archiving to another device, i.e. partition, disk drive, network location. Archives, although not immediately bootable, safeguard the OS and applications in case of disk hardware failure. Archives can then be exported or imported to multiple files for storage on CD/DVD media. The "freeze" features lets you return the system to the same state irrespective of what the user or system has done previously. Ensuring your systems cannot be damaged or corrupted by users is now a reality.
