Michael McManama promoted to Senior Vice President of Brand Development for Papa Gino’s and D’Angelo Grilled Sandwiches.

Papa Gino’s and D’Angelo Grilled Sandwiches announced today the promotion of Michael McManama to Senior Vice President of Brand Development. McManama will report to President/CEO Tom Galligan and will be responsible for promoting the Papa Gino’s and D’Angelo’s brands, developing new products and overseeing overall communications, new image programs and purchasing decisions for both D’Angelo and Papa Gino’s.

Formerly, VP of Marketing, Research and Development, McManama was instrumental in creating increased brand recognition for Papa Gino’s and D’Angelo through traditional advertising, marketing and publicity channels. He was responsible for strengthening relationships with the Red Sox, Patriots and Triple A organizations. In addition, McManama spearheaded the development of several successful new product launches, including Rustic Pizza for Papa Gino’s and Toasted Sandwiches for D’Angelo. Under McManama’s leadership, brand awareness for Papa Gino’s and D’Angelo are at an all times high with strong company sales increases over the past three years.

McManama brings more than 28 years experience in marketing, new product development and general management to Papa Gino’s and D’Angelo and has been with Papa Gino’s and D’Angelo for more than three years. Before joining Papa Gino’s Holdings Corp., McManama was senior vice president of strategic marketing and planning for Devine & Pearson Communications. Prior to Devine & Pearson, McManama was a managing partner with Millennium Lifestyle Marketing Group. Additionally, he held several positions with Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc., including Director of New Product Development. He also spent six years with HP Hood, as a district sales manager and as a business manager for New Product Development. McManama has a bachelors of science and from Boston College and a Masters of Business Administration from Suffolk University. He and his family reside in Plymouth, Mass.

Brand Development Initiatives

In his new position, McManama will continue to accelerate Papa Gino’s and D’Angelo’s growth and continue to oversee Papa Gino’s and D’Angelo remodeling makeovers – taking the brands into the 21st century.

McManama will continue to play a crucial role in D’Angelo’s and Papa Gino’s remodels. D’Angelo plans to have 25% of its restaurants updated with the new look by the end of the year. The new-look D’Angelos feature cushioned seating, earth tones and toasted sandwiches. The remodeled restaurants have helped increase D’Angelo’s dine-in business and overall sales.

McManama will undertake a similar program with Papa Gino’s with the first re-modeled Papa Gino’s to open in late Summer/early Fall. The restaurant will be a new construction and will be the model for future restaurants.

On the business alliance front, both D’Angelo and Papa Gino’s will embark on aggressive sports-themed promotions this summer. Under McManama’s leadership, Boston Red Sox Designated Hitter David Ortiz signed a three year deal to co-promote D’Angelo and Papa Gino’s. Ortiz will be prominently featured in an upcoming summer promotion and through D’Angelo’s radio and television advertisements. Papa Gino’s will also shortly announce a sponsorship agreement with a talented player and New England icon in the New England Patriots system. The player and Papa Gino’s will make an official announcement this summer.
