Juliette Weiland & Co. received an APEX 2006 Award of Excellence for its efforts to help small to medium sized businesses to understand how public relations can help its outreach to the public; its competitiveness in the marketplace; and its dealings with its employees. The winning entry, “E-mail Is Highly Effective Branding Tool,” appeared in The Hour, a daily newspaper in Norwalk, Connecticut on January 11, 2006.
The APEX 2006 Award of Excellence was one of twenty given in the subcategory of “Regular Departments and Columns.” Nearly 750 entries were submitted to the overall writing category.
The APEX Awards Program, in its 18th year, is an international competition sponsored by Communications Concepts, Inc., Springfield, Virginia. About 5,000 entries were judged this year, with 105 Grand Awards given in eleven major categories and 1,434 Awards of Excellence in 102 subcategories.
According to Juliette Weiland, principal of Juliette Weiland & Co., this is the seventh award in international competition won by her company and the fourth APEX Award for her column. Other awards include a Gold Award in the MarCom 2005 Creative Awards competition in the “Newspaper Placement” category; and an APEX 2005 Award in the “Public Relations & Information Writing” category.
Past credits also include an Award of Distinction in The Communicator Awards 2003 Print Media competition, plus awards from the Connecticut Press Club and the American Lung Association of Connecticut.
Juliette Weiland is a past president of the Connecticut Press Club and the Public Relations Society of America, Westchester/Fairfield Chapter.
