Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 28, 2006
Fertility Centers of Illinois (FCI), one of the nation’s leading infertility treatment practices, and PCOStrategies, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating, motivating and stimulating the millions of women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), today announced a joint free seminar that will take place on Saturday, August 5th from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Northwest Community Hospital. The informational session is designed to raise awareness about PCOS, otherwise known as Syndrome O, and the various ways to combat this condition and increase chances of a successful birth.
PCOS is a little-known condition that can effect a woman’s menstrual cycle, fertility, hormones, insulin production, heart, blood vessels, and appearance. An estimated 5-10 percent of women of childbearing age suffer from PCOS.
“While there is no cure for PCOS the symptoms can be managed with proper treatment. All that’s required is appropriate understanding of the disorder by both the patient and her physician, use of the appropriate medications, diet modification, and in some instances, life style modification,” explains Aaron Lifchez, MD, Reproductive Endocrinologist and President, Fertility Centers of Illinois.
“FCI is a recognized leader in treating infertility problems and I’m pleased to be working with them to present information about the Syndrome O-PCOS connection and help women who have been diagnosed with PCOS or struggling with infertility, miscarriage, weight problems, excessive hair growth, pre-diabetes or menstrual cycle irregularities,” says Lesa Childers, MSW of PCOStrategies. “Participants will learn how to work effectively with their doctors and have a positive attitude and healthier, more fertile body.”
Speakers include Aaron Lifchez, MD, Reproductive Endocrinologist and President, Fertility Centers of Illinois, Jane Nani, MD, Board-Certified in OB/GYN and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Fertility Centers of Illinois, Lesa Childers, MSW of PCOStrategies, and Nutritionist Barbara Fine of Pulling Down the Moon. The event will take place at Northwest Community Hospital, Wellness Center, Rooms 1 & 2, 900 W. Central, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Lunch and light refreshments will be provided for all attendees.
