An ever-increasing segment of moms, who typically have substantial corporate or industry experience behind them, have decided to raise children and profits by creating their own successful businesses.

Whitchurch and other savvy women have come together to create a how-to handbook for the journey. "The Business Mom Guide Book: More Life, Less Overwhelm for Mom Entrepreneurs" (Wyatt-MacKenzie, SEPT 2006), including Washington’s own “2006 Mrs. Washington Business Woman of the Year,” Tiffany Dauer Whitchurch, founder/CEO, successful entrepreneur, mother of five (all between the ages of five and seven), and contributor to the book.

“Being a great mom or a great business owner is no longer a choice,” says Whitchurch. “I am proud to have a voice in this book because I can take other moms in business behind the curtain and show them the strategies I’ve learned in how to create success in both arenas.”

Tiffany was able to grow a successful business from home while having five children who at one point were all two and under. Her line is now sold in nearly 1,000 stores around the world including Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus.

Simply Tiffany Taite, Inc., gifts have been a hit at celebrity weddings, christenings and baby showers, which have landed Tiffany spots on television programs such as Extra and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. A few of the celebrities who have received Simply Tiffany Taite, Inc. gifts include, Katie Homes, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Garner, Courtney Cox, Britney Spears, Debra Messing and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The Business Mom Guide Book, compiled by Terilee Harrison of TheBusinessMom.com, brings together the insights, tips, failures, and successes of mom business owners that are getting it done.

“Whitchurch and other courageous moms shared their stories -- what works for them as they run their businesses -- little things they do to try to be the best mom possible -- and how they still find time for themselves,” says Harrison. “I use the word “courageous” because all mom entrepreneurs know it's a challenge to raise their family and run a business, but hardly anybody talks about how they get it done.” You can find out more about Harrison and the book at http://www.thebusinessmom.com.
