'My Son is a Marine' earns Reader’s Choice Award for 2006!

The Military Writers Society of America honors Colorado author Jo Anne Allen for her inspirational work "My Son is a Marine."

Laurel, MD (PRWEB) August 1, 2006 -- "My Son is a Marine" has taken the Readers Choice Award from the Military Writers Society of America for 2006. Bill McDonald, President of MWSA says, "This is not your normal 'I got a son in the war story' by any measure. It is something very special. I believe it will help bring people back to their own spiritual roots. It will change lives and make people different in a very positive way."

"'My Son is a Marine' is a joy and a real pleasure to read something uplifting dealing with the Iraq War experience. Even though her book is filled with enough 'Kleenex Moments' to make a great soap opera, she never loses her faith in life," says McDonald.

The war in Iraq rages on, while around the world families sit on the edge of their seats watching the horrific news of death and destruction. It's a familiar scene, but one mother refused to sit and wait for her son to come home -- unable to imagine how the war might affect his soul. A.J. Allen enlisted at the tender age of eighteen and from that day on his mother, Jo Anne Allen, did what she must to keep his spirit alive. Day after day, she wrote cards and letters reliving the joyous experiences of A.J.'s journey through life.

Joe Franklin of Memory Lane (Bloomberg Radio) says... "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition–send copies of Jo Anne Allen's book to the troops."

"My Son is a Marine" has already reached across the world to touch readers with not only the wonder of a mother's love, but of God's love for each of His children. This book was born of a strong commitment by several people. Support Our Soldiers America Inc. received a letter from a young marine (A.J. Allen). A.J.'s simple request for someone to help his mother move ahead in her writing career touched a chord and set the wheels in motion. Ms. Allen eventually signed a publishing contract with Karen Syed at Echelon Press and soon after "My Son is a Marine" hit the presses. As a token of Ms. Allen and Echelon Press' commitment, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of "My Son is a Marine"are donated to SOS America Inc. to benefit a variety of venues including the injured at the Walter Reed Hospital. The scope of this project is immense as the book brings comfort and peace to readers worldwide.

Jo Anne Allen, the mother three, lives Grand Junction, Colorado. With her own military background and an unstoppable determination to survive the most challenging crisis', Ms. Allen relies on many things to face each new day of the adventure she calls life, the most important of them being her faith.
