Canadian Women Finally on the Board -- Female Angler Jumps for Joy While Making History

Canada's Terri MacKinnon takes top 20 finish and a cheque making her the first Canadian female angler to place on the new B.A.S.S/ESPN Womens Bassmaster Tour.

Lake Norman, NC (PRWEB) August 1, 2006 -- Canadian Angler Terri MacKinnon co-angler on Team FisherGirl was jumping for joy when she realized she had taken 20th place and was going to be in the money. MacKinnon now became part of history this past weekend when she brought in fish both days and picked up a check against the world's top female bass anglers.

You will see next year's tournaments grow significantly, more women are inquiring and supporting women professionally fishing. We also saw a huge win just recently Tammy Richardson for the ESPY's, so womens fishing is going to be explosive.
B.A.S.S/ESPN Womens Bassmaster tour has attracted women from all over the world, with representation from the U.S, Japan, South Africa and Canada to participate in the 3 days event. The 3rd of 5 events was held on Lake Norman and drew almost 200 women as boater/co-anglers.

"Women have been given the opportunity to test there skills against some of the best bass fishing female anglers worldwide," says MacKinnon. "The LPGA experienced the same excitement when it also began. There are over 17 Million licensed female anglers in the U.S alone, so you can only imagine where this is going to go."

She went on to say, "You will see next year's tournaments grow significantly, more women are inquiring and supporting women professionally fishing. We also saw a huge win just recently Tammy Richardson for the ESPY's, so womens fishing is going to be explosive."

The season started in April on Neely Henry in Alabama and was won by Tammy Richardson (Ak.) and followed by a Texas event in May won by Team FisherGirl - Dianna Clark (Tn.) This 3rd event held on Lake Norman NC was won by Lisa Sternard (Tn.). There are a total of 5 events with the next two events scheduled for Lake Dardanelle, Ark. in August and Bull Shoals, Miss. in September.
