Hamzeh Mystique Films Wraps-up Filming In Syria
USA-based Hamzeh Mystique Films’ Ziad H Hamzeh, writer/director of the critically acclaimed feature documentary “The Letter: An American Town and the Somali Invasion” (2004), has just wrapped photography on a new feature documentary titled BLOOD OF EDEN.
(PRWEB) August 2, 2006 -- BLOOD OF EDEN, produced by Hamzeh Mystique Films' Ziad Hamzeh, Bert Brown and Marc Sandler, was shot in Hi-Def and examines the struggles and triumphs of Bouthaina Shaaban, an extraordinarily courageous woman of Syrian descent who battles political turmoil, archaic traditions, and the rise of fundamentalist Islamic movements, to wage an international battle defending the integrity of women of the Middle East.
Through the cooperation and assistance of the Syrian Organization For Cinema headed by Dr. Muhammad Al-Ahmad, BLOOD OF EDEN was filmed inside the walls of old Damascus, the famous Alsouk market area, the Kasioun mountains, Malola: the city of the Aramic langauge, and the House of Umber. Hisham Maleh, considered the finest Director of Photography in Syria, worked with Ziad Hamzeh behind the camera; Youssif Dak Albab at their side as Line Producer. Washington D.C. serves as the second location for the upcoming documentary. Editing is slated to be completed in Syria in December 2006, with a spring 2007 release.
Producers Sandler and Brown note that “Mr. Hamzeh, a Syrian/American filmmaker, is uniquely qualified to bring such a project to fruition.” In Damascus, Mr. Hamzeh was raised in a family that included six sisters. He had the advantage of seeing their struggles from a point view allowing him a visceral understanding of the real issues that face Arab women. Then immigrating alone to the United States as a teenager, he was able to more clearly identify with and communicate the universal stories relating to all women’s issues.
