Artocracy.org Adds Two New Artists: Nancy Herman and Margaret Gatti

Artocracy.org, a company dedicated supporting visual artists through the sale of digital prints, added two artists to the site this month, Nancy Herman of Pennsylvania and Margaret Gatti of Georgia.

Spokane, WA (PRWEB) August 2, 2006 -- Artocracy.org (http://www.artocracy.org), a company dedicated to supporting visual artists through the sale of digital prints is pleased to announce two new artist's works: Margaret Gatti and Nancy Herman.

Margaret Gatti, residing in Atlanta, Georgia, is currently pursing a Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology from the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University. Margaret’s interest in photography began during her undergraduate years. While at Trinity, she enrolled in photography classes and continues to pursue her studies and work in photography. Her prints for Artocracy focus on traditional black and white photography. She photographs the moments of her everyday life as she purses her Masters degree. She states that, “A unique view of the mundane can result in finding beauty in the ordinary black and white of life. As a student and scientist, my life has always been black and white.”

Nancy Herman of North Latch’s Lane Merion, Pennsylvania, is represented by over 85 corporate collections as well as The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Brevard Museum of Art in Florida and the Museum of the State of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg. She works in paint, fiber and on the computer with prints and video. Her prints on Artocracy are digitally painted photographs of her garden. Herman photographs her garden plants and vegetables, transfers them onto a digital platform and then alters them and their colors to make haunting images of the ordinary.

The digital prints from Artocracy allow customers to become patrons of the arts. When a person buys a PDF download from Artocracy, the artist receives 75 percent of the cost and the remaining 25 percent goes to maintaining and upgrading the website. When a person purchases framed or unframed prints, the artist receives 75 percent of the cost of the PDF download for that piece, and the remaining amount goes to the cost of printing and framing, as well as to running the website. In both cases, the artist gets the money he or she needs to continue creating original artwork.
