Fido's & Fighters Comedy Show Benefits Humane Society & PAL Boxing Club
It’s a “fidos” day afternoon. Actually, evening. And it’s for the cats, too! And boxers, as in kids learning to box to keep them off the street.
PRWEB) August 3, 2006 -- “Fidos & Fighters II,” an evening of stand-up comedy, benefits the Benicia/Vallejo Humane Society and Vallejo PAL Boxing Club on Saturday, August 26th.
The 8 p.m. event is at Rizza Auditorium on the campus of The California Maritime Academy in Vallejo.
The comics include New York’s Chris Mata, San Francisco’s Joe Klocek, and former Vallejo and Suisun City resident D.C. Ervin, who recently moved to Southern California.
Last year’s event raised more than $3,000 for the two non-profits.
“We’re helping animals and we’re helping young people,” said Peter Lepley, director of Humane Services. “It’s a great combination of two non-profits. I think it works because we care for the animals and help kids who are the future. Last year’s show was a blast.”
Mata, a San Antonio native, was a finalist in the 2002 San Francisco International Stand-UP Comedy Competition. He’s appeared on Comedy Central’s Premium Blend.
Klocek was runner-up in the 2003 San Francisco Comedy Competition and a finalist in the 2002 Comedy Central Laugh Riots contest.
Tickets are $20 each (buy three, get the fourth ticket free) and there will be a raffle at the event for tickets to concerts to raise additional funds.
