Deutsch and Limbaugh Inspire Singing Lawyer

Both Donnie Deutsch and Rush Limbaugh frequently use the saying “a conservative is a liberal who got mugged” to describe flip-flop political affiliations. But neither realized that they inspired singing lawyer Jesse Goldberg to write “I Used to Be a Liberal.”

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) August 8, 2006 -- Nashville musician, comedian, and lawyer Jesse Goldberg admits his latest release, “I Used to Be a Liberal” was inspired by a saying he heard both Donnie Deutsch (The Big Idea with Donnie Deutsch) and Rush Limbaugh (The Rush Limbaugh Show) use on their television programs, “a conservative is a liberal who got mugged.”

“After doing some research, I discovered the original saying came from former Philadelphia mayor Frank Rizzo in the 1920s,” said Mr. Goldberg. “It inspired me to write a song that both Liberals and Conservatives can hate. What can I say? I’m proud to be an equal opportunity offender.”

Political flip-flops are wonderful fodder for anyone with Goldberg’s sense of humor. “I Used to Be a Liberal” includes the lyrics: “I believed in welfare, tax the rich and to feed the poor, but now that I’ve got money I don’t feel that way no more. Tear up those union labels…but God bless the USA.” and “I sympathized with prisoners now I say fry those thugs. Hunt down all those Democrats and squish them like bugs.”

Jesse enjoys writing and singing about what he knows best, the funny side of modern life. Besides “I Used to Be a Liberal,” Jesse’s “Solid Goldberg” album also includes fan favorites, such as “Prenuptial Agreement,” “The Civil War is Over,” and “Southern Baptist Jew.” http://www.jessegoldberg.com

Goldberg fans know him as the musician whose song “Its Honeymooner Time” was produced into a music video for Showtime and won a cable TV Ace Award. They enjoy his frequent contributions to the Dr. Demento Show, especially his hit “White Spots.” Some happy fans have had the chance to see him at the Improv, The Comedy Store, and The Bluebird Cafe

Lucky Nashville area fans can watch Goldberg weekly on three area television shows, “Mind Your Own Music Business,” “The Songwriter’s Show,” and “Common Law.” Details of these programs, as well as clips from his CDs can be found at http://www.jessegoldberg.com.
