Displaced Prince Fans Say "It Aint Ova!"

Although he had recently won a Webby for his innovative online music club, enigmatic recording artist, Prince, at the stroke of midnight of July 4, 2006, shut down his popular website, NPG Music Club

Baltimore, Maryland (PRWEB) August 6, 2006 -- Although he had recently won a Webby Award (www.webbyawards.com) for his innovative online music club, enigmatic recording artist, Prince, at the stroke of midnight the morning of July 4, 2006, began the shut-down of his popular website, NPG Music Club ("NPGMC") www.npgmusicclub.com, without warning to many thousands of members worldwide. Shortly afterward, an email notice was sent to members stating: "… in its current 4m [form] there is a feeling that the NPGMC has gone as far as it can go."

While some awoke to a website gone dark, a small group of members present during NPGMC's demise were busy regrouping. Within 8 hours of NPGMC's closing, NPG Underground ("NPGU") was up and running; www.npgunderground.org.

While NPGU does not offer music downloads and pre-sale concert tickets, what it does provide is the continued sense of community and camaraderie fostered by the NPGMC and its Webby-winning host.

NPGU provides members with a java Chat client, as well a phpBB Forum. There are 24/7 music streams (NPGU Radio), weekly Trivia Sessions, and guest DJs. The site shines a spotlight on the varied talents (art, music, acting, photography, etc.) of its members, and members are invited to post info on their numerous get-togethers or events, be they Prince-related or not, in any country.

Created by long-time online Prince Community member, Lisa Blu, and maintained and moderated by former core NPGMC members, NPGU is proof of a bond that an online community can create.

NPGUnderground is not affiliated with, nor endorsed by: Prince, the NPG Music Club, Paisley Park Studios, NPG Records, Paisley Park Enterprises, Inc., or any other Prince-related companies/organizations.
