Vetz Magazine Announces Publisher Steven May Hits the Road to Talk About Preventative Care

"Top Ten List" for consumers: 10 Things to Ask Your Veterinarian.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 6, 2006 -- Most consumers don't know what to ask their veterinarian when it comes to preventative care, or that once a year visits might not be enough. In addition, consumers are often in the dark on what products their veterinarian offers and which are suitable for their pet's well being. Steven May, publisher of the first lifestyle magazine for veterinarians, Vetz Magazine, is hitting the road with key tips on, "What to Ask Your Veterinarian."

From TV spots in cities like Tampa and Miami to feature stories written in daily newspapers, May is helping veterinarians get their message out to the public.

May has created a "Top Ten List" for consumers: 10 Things to Ask Your Veterinarian.
*Right before you take your pet to the vet, make a list of things to ask so your quick visit can be helpful to prolonging the life of your pet.
*Learn your ABCs. How are my pet’s “Airway, Breathing and Circulation?”
How often should I vaccinate my pet?
*Do you see any lumps or bumps around my pet’s tail area, eyes, ears, inside of the mouth, tongue?
*Is my pet on the right nutritional diet based on its weight and age? Is it a healthy weight?
*Besides checking the nails, can you check the pads and each digit for abnormalities?
*Does my pet have tarter, plague or any chipped teeth?
*Can you look down into each of my pet’s ears with Otiscope for any dirt or inflammation?
*Can my pet have a Glaucoma examination?
*How often should my pet have a fecal examination, blood analysis, urinalysis, or heartworm test?
*What preventative medications can I use now to help prevent heartworm and lyme disease? When should I schedule my next visit?

Also, make sure you have your doctor look very carefully under the arm pits, the bottom of the chest and stomach area, between your pet’s legs and of course, the private parts. Have the nails of all pets well trimmed at all times. In addition, always have a doctor monitor the pet's weight and discuss with a veterinarian about any behavioral problems, mental or physical changes the pet may have, because many times it can be early indicators of a potential illness.

Vetz Magazine is set to come out with its summer issue this month, bringing solid answers to the veterinary profession in practice management, HR, legal and marketing. Vetz Magazine offers the most up-to-date, impactful information available today to influence a healthy balance between a veterinarian’s lifestyle and practice.

VETZ Magazine is also proud to announce www.vetzmagazine.com, where veterinarians and staff members can visit anytime to read about breaking news, product announcements, company announcements and issues of the month sent from peers in the industry.
