"American Roots Live" Moves to New Home on New Night and Introduces American Roots TV

American Roots announces two important dates: August 8th and August 12th 2006

Dunellen, NJ (PRWEB) August 6, 2006 -- American Roots Live with Nasty Ned, an American Roots Movement, open-mic celebration of American Roots music of the 20th Century, has moved from The Rail in Bound Brook to its new home at Zupko’s Tavern Theater, 450 North Ave. Dunellen, NJ starting Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at 8 PM and will run every Tuesday night there after.

American Roots Live with Nasty Ned, now in its 19th week, attracts the NY, NJ, and PA area’s biggest names. Musicians and music fans from far and near make the pilgrimage every week. “There is no other show like it anywhere”, says host Nasty Ned, a charismatic showman who sings and plays harmonica. “We have veteran guitar masters like Johnny Charles, Bernie Brauswetter, Tommy Fuller and Lee Fink standing and playing shoulder to shoulder with young musicians who are eager to perform with their local heros.”

It is the mission of the American Roots Movement to promote and preserve the American Roots heritage through all media available including television, radio, print, recorded media, internet, pod cast and live performance so that grandchildren will pass it on to grandchildren and so on.

American Roots TV, to air in September, initially on Cablevision’s Raritan Valley public access channel 22, will be a half hour cable TV program chronicling the history of our music featuring vintage footage of original roots artists, video taped performances of the veterans and youngster who participate in the weekly American Roots Live shows, unplugged studio performances from local and national acts as well as in depth interviews with those artists.

American Roots TV, a half hour TV show hosted by Nasty Ned, is a Piscataway Community Television (PCTV) production that will begin live video taping on Saturday, August 12th at Zupko’s Tavern Theater. The live shoot will feature American Roots All Stars: Nasty Ned & the Noo Dogs, Johnny Charles & the Straight Eight Blues Kings, Plainfield Slim & the Hawgs, The Dough Boys, Bernie Brauswetter, Tommy Fuller, Kate Weber, and a special guest appearance by Honey Boy Dupree; Arizona’s favorite bluesman, who is flying in from Phoenix to be a part of the event, and we will also introduce the young and talented 26 year old John Powers, Kelly Caruso, 19 and Johnny “the Flame” Thompson, 21.

The public is invited to come, watch and listen on August 12 as the “live” portion of the show is being video taped. There is no cover charge.

American Roots TV with Nasty Ned will air initially in the following New Jersey towns of Green Brook, Piscataway, Dunellen, Middlesex, Bound Brook, South Bound Brook, Manville, Raritan and Bridgewater into 40, 405 Cablevision households. An exact September time slot will be determined soon after live production is complete.

Also: Starting Thursday September 14, 2006 and every Thursday there after, the American Roots Live open mic celebration will expand into Easton, PA as the Bluetone Café at 683 Walnut St. - the Lehigh Valley’s #1 Blues & Roots club - opens its doors for cause. That's two shows per week in two states with a venue in upstate New York to follow making a total of three American Roots Live open mic celebrations each week in three different states.

American Roots Movement Mission Statement:

The American Roots Movement lead by Nasty Ned and American Roots ambassadors Duane Chez, John Powers and Honey Boy Dupree, as well as a group of dedicated volunteers who are committed to the preservation of America’s rich musical heritage of Blues, Jazz, Country, Rock & Roll, Rock, Bluegrass, R&B, Soul and all the hybrid rhythms and sounds in between that make up the genre we recognize as American Roots music of the 20th century.

The American Roots Movement plants the seeds of rebirth for musicians and music fans, young and old, today, tomorrow and for generations to come.

The American Roots Movement celebrates roots music as the birthplace of all 21st century music and is dedicated to sharing, encouraging and inspiring children and young adults to appreciate and get involved by simply listening to, or by getting up to play side by side with professional musicians of all styles who have come together in celebration of our music at any of a growing number of American Roots Live open mic locations.

The impetus behind the movement is significant as American Roots music is no longer played on mainstream radio or showcased in mainstream media, and is sadly being forced into an ever narrowing niche away from mainstream American audiences.

As exampled by music venues who originally opened their doors as “blues” or “roots” clubs now being forced to feature karaoke nights or DJs playing modern music or 80’s “tribute bands” just to pay their bills.

Disturbingly, this has become the norm in many so-called roots venues around the country.

It is therefore the mission of the American Roots Movement to promote and preserve our American Roots heritage through all media available including television, radio, print, recorded media, internet, pod cast and live performance so that grandchildren will pass it on to grandchildren and so forth… and for this vital cause, we sincerely request your interest and support.
