Network operators using Real Digital Media’s NEOCAST® digital signage solution now gain access to AccuWeather news, sports and weather content.

Real Digital Media (RDM), a leading provider of next generation digital signage products for establishing point-of-purchase marketing, promotions and corporate communication networks, today announced a partnership with AccuWeather, The World’s Weather Authority®, to provide digital signage network operators access to the latest weather, sports and news information. The relationship represents an industry first for AccuWeather, and an innovative partner to help Real Digital Media continue to meet the growing demand for localized, dynamic content.

Real Digital Media and AccuWeather engaged in a collaborative development process to integrate AccuWeather’s content feeds with RDM’s SpotSwap™ technology, a patent-pending feature of Real Digital Media’s NEOCAST® digital signage solution.

SpotSwap™ allows digital signage network operators to generate a single, master playlist with placeholders for the insertion of local media content. By integrating with this technology, the latest up to date AccuWeather content can be rapidly inserted into playlists to ensure viewers are receiving the most relevant content for their location.

“Weather is a very local and dynamic phenomenon that matters to digital signage viewers who are shopping, traveling or planning their next activity for the day,” said Michael Baron, Real Digital Media’s President. “Through this partnership, Real Digital Media has immediate access to the most up to date local weather conditions in the industry, while AccuWeather has a first of its kind mechanism through NEOCAST® and SpotSwap™ to deliver their content in a timely and engaging manner without requiring manual intervention. Both parties benefit while viewers get the latest AccuWeather forecasts and network operators can insert locally relevant content without any technical hurdles.”

AccuWeather’s digital signage content modules include current local weather conditions, hourly and five-day forecasts, regional radar, video forecasts, and weather trivia, plus sports news, U.S. or world news, business news, and financial information. Many of AccuWeather’s digital signage modules are also available in Spanish.

Dr. Joel N. Myers, Founder and President of AccuWeather adds, “The public has demonstrated its fascination with our accurate, hyper-local weather information on all existing media, and the lure of weather spells opportunity for those who place advertising adjacent to it. We look forward to partnering with Real Digital Media to offer this same powerful audience draw within their networks.”

Distribution of AccuWeather content across the United States and Canada by Real Digital Media is effective immediately.
