Frances Lynn has an original style of writing. She is also an incredibly funny writer. “Crushed” is aimed at 12-15 year olds. Older teenagers will be able to relate to the teen fiction book too, especially if they also have unrealistic crushes on pop stars or young movie icons.
When Frances Lynn was twelve, she had a big crush on Mick Jagger and wrote him a fan letter. He replied! She also wrote to Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, telling him to get his teeth fixed. A short time later he did!

The plot unfolds in an otherwise apparently uncontrolled stream of consciousness, leaving one wondering if the author's words are leading events, or events leading the author.
