The SCOOTER Store announced today a new partnership with Health Net, Inc. to make power mobility equipment and services conveniently available to Health Net’s 6.6 million managed care members requiring power wheelchairs or electric scooters.

The SCOOTER Store is the nation’s leading provider of power mobility equipment to seniors and people with mobility impairments, and Health Net is among the nation’s largest publicly traded managed health care companies. Health Net’s subsidiaries provide health benefits to families and individuals across the country through group, individual, Medicare, Medicaid, and TRICARE and Veterans Affairs programs.

“We are proud that Health Net selected us to serve the mobility needs of their diverse membership,” said Mike Pfister, president of The SCOOTER Store. “We are dedicated to helping Health Net and other managed care partners understand the long-term cost benefits to improving the mobility of people with impairments while ensuring their members receive the most appropriate equipment. When their mobility is increased by power wheelchairs and scooters, the added independence can substantially reduce care costs.”

Mr. Pfister said the new partnership means that Health Net members will now have in-network coverage for power mobility devices from The SCOOTER Store, equipment that can help them retain their freedom and independence.

The Health Net partnership also exemplifies the extraordinary growth of The SCOOTER Store’s Managed Care Division. Since it began operations in 2001, the division now has nearly 80 partnerships. The growth has been facilitated by a strategy of focusing on building relationships through personal attention and innovative programs. The division has a staff of more than 30 quality-trained Mobility Consultants who work with patients, their physicians and their insurance companies to obtain medical documentation and verify benefits and eligibility.
