Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 11, 2006 -- Chuti Tiu will join Zack Silva, Michelle Belegrin and Nate Haden in the My Network TV series “Desire.” The nighttime drama, produced by Stephen Brown, details the destruction of a family when two brothers on the run from the mafia become embroiled in a passionate battle over the same woman. “Desire” will debut September 5.
Tiu plays the role of Detective Rachel Lin, a rookie cop out to prove herself in a man's world. "She definitely takes her job seriously," Tiu said. "Some would say too seriously," she added with a chuckle.
Born in New Orleans, LA, and raised in Milwaukee, WI, this Chinese/Filipina/Spanish beauty studied at Northwestern University where she earned a B.A. in Economics and Political Science. Tiu first got noticed on the pageant circuit, and Hollywood soon followed. She was named the first non-Caucasian America’s Junior Miss; a few years later she was selected as Miss Illinois and won the Miss America Pageant Talent Award for her classical piano performance. Art imitated life when Tiu got a lead role in Sally Field's directorial debut "Beautiful," a film based on the pageant experience.
Tiu has had many supporting roles in independent features such as "The Specials" with Rob Lowe and Thomas Hayden Church. Her extensive television work includes a recurring role in the highly rated suspense thriller “24” starring Kiefer Sutherland as well as guest appearances on such shows as the new "Dragnet" with Ed O'Neill and Ethan Embry. She has also had recurring roles on the long-running daytime favorites “General Hospital” and “Days of Our Lives.”
