City-Sightseeing San Francisco has tripled its fleet of open-top double-decker buses. Its 'Downtown Loop' is now the most popular land tour in San Francisco.

City Sightseeing, the world’s leading double-decker bus sightseeing company with over 80 locations worldwide, has extended its Hop On – Hop Off tour in San Francisco. The San Francisco operation launched last November, with two open-top buses. To meet demand, the fleet has now been expanded to six buses, with more on the way.

The sightseeing service features three tours: Downtown, Golden Gate, and a Night Loop. Tickets run from $20 to $49 and are valid for 24 - 48 hours. The various tours cover most of central San Francisco, and departures are now every 30 minutes from 9:00am – 7:00pm.

“This is an idea whose time has finally come to San Francisco” says Christian Watts, founder of City Sightseeing SF. “Double-decker tours dominate the sightseeing market in most major tourist cities in Europe, but are limited to a few markets in the US. The tours have been very popular, particularly among international visitors. We now carry 600 – 1000 passengers every day, and our ‘Downtown Loop’ is the most popular land tour in San Francisco.” Watts adds “Europeans especially are used to the concept, visiting all the top spots in town without worrying about parking or traffic.”

Peter Newman, co-founder of the ‘City Sightseeing’ worldwide brand added "We're thrilled to be expanding our brand into the United States. Our Open Top buses are a perfect choice with California's legendary sunshine and palm trees. Enabling travelers to control their own itinerary choices has been a long standing trend in the tourism industry, and our Hop On - Hop Off service is an extension of that. Our guests set their own departure time, linger at an attraction as long as they like, and are given an entertaining tour along the way. San Francisco is an ideal market for this tour.”

Tours can be combined with other local San Francisco attractions, including the highly demanded Alcatraz Island tour.

City Sightseeing SF operates six 72-passenger buses imported from the UK, with plans to put several more on the road over the coming months to meet existing demand.

All of these packages, along with a full selection of other San Francisco tours can be booked online at SightseeingWorld.com.
