Dallas, TX (PRWEB) August 14, 2006
Evander Holyfield, will begin his quest for a history making unprecedented fifth Heavyweight Title, when he returns to the ring to face veteran Jeremy Bates in Dallas, TX at the American Airlines Center on August 18th 2006. The fight which is projected to be a sell out - will be televised live on FOX Sports Net (National) on the “Best Damn Sports Show” to an estimated number of households available of 70,000,000.
Holyfield’s fight will mark the first time ever for a (current or former) World Heavyweight Champion to fight in Dallas. “I’m pumped up, big time, about fighting in Dallas,” beamed Holyfield. “I really started getting excited about fighting there after watching the Mavericks play at the American Airlines Center in the NBA Playoffs. I know Dallas has some great sports fans and the new Arena there is supposed to be one of the nicest in the country. When I was watching the playoffs, I could see myself in the ring there. I think it’s a great place to start Holyfield V, The Final Chapter.”
Holyfield put out the message that he's determined to become the first and only five-time World Heavyweight Champion in boxing history. Now, after several months in the gym and Holyfield is winding down training for his upcoming fight. His trainers are saying that the idea is not so farfetched. "I know this may sound crazy to some, but I'm telling you, Evander is in the best shape he's been in for the past ten years," stated Holyfield Trainer, Ronnie Shields, Holyfield's respected boxing trainer. Shields has guided and trained fifteen World Champions. "If he performs the way he's been performing in the gym, I truly believe he has a real chance with anyone out there."
SUN Management Group Inc., signed a contract with Real Deal Events, LLC to provide corporate sponsorship for the Main Event Fight Night. SUN CEO CJ Comu stated, “This is an incredible event for the City of Dallas, to host a world caliber fight like this. This is also a great opportunity for corporate sponsors to tie into Boxing and review potential endorsements and celebrity branding opportunities that are available.” Comu added, “With the success of what George Forman did ‘outside’ the ring, including taking his brand public – Evander also knows the power of what he can deliver as a great spokesperson for the right corporate client.”
Holyfield (38-8-2) is no ordinary 43 year old athlete. He's not only healthy and in great shape, but really believes his will in God and inner strength will carry him through anything. “That's how he beat 16 world champions (including Mike Tyson, Larry Holmes, George Foreman, and Riddick Bowe) and won the World Heavyweight Title, four times. That's a powerful thing and the way he's looking in the gym and the fact that he is now healthy, there's no way I can doubt him right now, until he's proven otherwise. Hopefully people understand what this means to Evander and how serious he is. They need to give him an opportunity to play this out and see where it goes," stated Shields.
