StudyCell(TM) will Present at mLearn 2006, the 5th World Conference on Mobile Learning

StudyCell(TM) will present its patent pending mobile flashcard system at mLearn 2006, the 5th World Conference on Mobile Learning in Alberta, Canada October 22-25

Berkeley, California (PRWEB) August 21, 2006 – StudyCell (www.StudyCell.com), a company dedicated to making educational software for cell phones, announced that they will present their new mobile flashcard system at mLearn 2006, the 5th World Conference on Mobile Learning. StudyCell(TM) submitted an abstract to conference organizers last May describing its patent pending system for creating individualized flashcards on the StudyCell(TM) Web site for download to cell phones. The mLearn 2006 conference organizers accepted the abstract and key members of the StudyCell(TM) team will travel to Alberta, Canada on October 22nd for the conference.

“At the mLearn 2006 conference,” explained Rosemary Castorina, Co-founder in charge of content and strategic partnerships, “we will present an overview of the functionality and content types that the StudyCell “make your own” flashcard system have been used to create, a summary of user behaviors such as repeat use and sharing, and future directions.”

StudyCell(TM) realizes that there is a market opportunity for the creation and distribution of compelling learning content designed to take advantage of the highly prevalent, Java-enabled hand sets rapidly permeating the 12-to-24 year old demographic. Today’s high school or college students have a need for access to learning content wherever they are, and serious students are willing to adopt new learning technologies on their cell phones.

The StudyCell(TM) mobile flashcard system provides a way for students to create and download flashcards to their cell phones. This system allows students to create mobile flashcards on any subject that they can share with friends and study groups. The StudyCell(TM) system teaches content by first exposing learners to the fact or word in context, allowing for learning by recognition, and then testing them on their mastery of the subject through multiple choice quizzes and the mobile equivalent of traditional flashcards. Features, such as running scores, adaptive content, and search functionality make this system both engaging and efficient.

“Presenting at the mLearn 2006 conference will provide us an opportunity to share our experience creating and distributing StudyCell mobile flashcards, and learn from researchers, educators and technologists working in other areas where mLearning is applied,” said Chris Salemme, Co-founder in charge of technology.
