Florida ISP Provides Connectivity to Support 2006 Elections
KUA.net, the telecommunications division of Kissimmee Utility Authority, will provide Internet connectivity to support local and countywide elections in Florida's Columbia, Flagler, Osceola, Pasco, Manatee and Marion counties.
Kissimmee, Fla. (PRWEB) August 14, 2006 -- KUA.net (www.kua.net), the telecommunications division of Kissimmee Utility Authority, has announced that it will provide Internet connectivity to support local and countywide elections throughout Florida.
KUA.net is working with the supervisor of elections offices in Columbia, Flagler, Osceola, Pasco, Manatee and Marion counties to provide dial-up Internet access to hundreds of poll locations. The connectivity will be used to facilitate communication between electronic voter identification systems and the main elections office in each respective county.
The connectivity will not be used for ballot tabulation or transmission.
"KUA.net provides a unique option for counties that are looking for temporary Internet access to support their local elections," said Jef Gray, vice president of information technology at KUA. "Unlike national providers, we're able to offer connectivity at a lower cost, without a long-term contract."
The connectivity works in partnership with Voter Focus™ and EViD™ software distributed by Tallahassee-based VR Systems, Inc. VR Systems provides voter hardware and software solutions to 60 of Florida's 67 counties.
