State Of Oregon Gains New Resource For The Fight Against Cyber Crime
Portland Community College has partnered with CyberSecurity Institute and will be offering computer forensics courses to those responsible for combating cyber crime. CyberSecurity Institute has trained hundreds of professionals, including law enforcement.
Portland, OR (PRWEB) August 17, 2006 -- CyberSecurity Institute announced today that Portland Community College is CyberSecurity Institute’s exclusive training partner for the state of Oregon. Portland Community College will now be hosting computer forensics training courses aimed at providing training in the proper methodology for performing computer investigations and conducting forensic analysis.
CyberSecurity Institute was one of the first companies in Washington State to offer computer forensic training, and has trained hundreds of professionals, including law enforcement.
"The growth of technology has also brought forth new opportunities for those individuals who want to use it as a vehicle for committing crimes. There will be an increasing need for qualified, competent forensic analysts to process cases and situations involving digital evidence,” President Steve Hailey said. "Establishing this partnership marks another milestone on the journey to fight cyber crime. Portland Community College will be a driving force to further educate those with this responsibility.”
Portland Community College will be offering a one-day computer forensics course on Saturday, August 26th. “This is a great way for prospective students to come in and see what computer forensics is all about before enrolling in our more comprehensive programs,” said Wendy Settle, of Portland Community College. “We know all who attend will be impressed with the quality of instruction, and will leave educated in the opportunities available in this fast growing field.”
Many of Hailey’s students have already performed work for law enforcement and have started their own computer forensic businesses. “We offer our best students the opportunity to perform work for us directly or as contractors,” Hailey said. “We have a case right now in Vancouver WA that one of our students will be helping us with.”
